Samsara Blues Experiment is a German band founded in the summer of 2007 by guitarist Christian Peters. They play Stoner rock, Psychedelic Blues, Indian raga or, we could say that their sound is a mix of all the genres mentioned above!

On May 12, 2017 they released their new album and at the end of May (27 May, Fuzz Club, Athens) they are coming to Greece for a gig. We had the pleasure of talking to Samsara Blues Experiment's guitarist and founder Christian Peters.

Hello and welcome to Greece again. How is your tour going so far?

We are waiting to play the last show in Cologne tonight, along with the guys of Kaleidobolt. Very nice guys and plenty of good times for sure.

Any memories from your last visit to Greece?

Only the best. We played Fuzztastic Planet Festival a few years ago and had a lot of good times down there.

After 4 years, you released new material this year. Why did it take you so long to write new songs?

Well, a good wine needs some time too ;-).

Tell us a bit about this new album.

Oh well, we wrote the songs over a period of one year or so. We did not play many shows, basically, in order to concentrate on songwriting. It was pretty much a time of introspection for us. Although some people thought we would not be active, we were just behind closed doors...

I bet that you will be performing your new material in your concert here in Greece. Am I right? Greek fans are looking forward to listening to your new songs live. Have you prepared anything special for the Greek audience?

Well, we will play some of the new songs for sure. We will do a good mix of "classics" and new tunes. It also took us some time to reshape the "new band sound", so I guess we´ll have fun.

All these years, I have heard bands and artists talk about the routine they follow, their preparations before going on stage to perform. What are you guys doing before each gig? That specific moment when the audience is shouting and waits for you to show up?

Nothing special really. I am always nervous, but I haven´t found something to calm me down. Excitement is part of the process, I think.

How would you describe the sound of Samsara Blues Experiment? Do you think that your sound has evolved in all those years, since the beginning of the band?

Well, in some way, it always evolves. Basically, we play this mixture of everything that we like and of everything that we are able to "reproduce" in our own terms. It´s not a secret; everything we do has been there in some other form. We don´t try to beat our brains out or break our fingers anymore.

Any funny moments from your gigs so far that you want to share with us?

Plenty of good times. And plenty of weird times too. What I actually enjoy the most is when we cross that communication gap and people are opening themselves to us, same thing we do through our music.

Thank you again Mr. Peters. I am looking forward to enjoying you on stage. Welcome to Greece again guys. Some last words from you, so we can wrap this interesting interview up in the right way?

Please don´t call me Mr. Peters, I am not an accountant ;-). I am Chris, okay?! Cheers!
